Castle Big Band

This is a relaxed, non-auditioned band that rehearses every Friday night (with an Undie break in the middle). We welcome all players at any level, even if you’re a seasoned pro or an absolute beginner. We perform in a huge variety of musical styles and contexts; whether you’re looking for the pop, funk numbers of our sell-out Christmas Carnage Gig, the upbeat blues of our Swing Soc performances or the huge dance tunes that round out our performances at Fabio’s, Castle Big Band are always ready to entertain.

Contact castle.bigband@durham.ac.uk for more information.

Chamber Choir and Orchestra

We are an auditioned 16-member choir and approximately 30-strong orchestra, performing a wide variety of sacred and secular repertoire from Vivaldi to Whitacre. Performances include end-of-term concerts and others, both together and as separate ensembles. The choir meets every Saturday evening from 8:00pm-10:00pm and the orchestra meets every Monday evening from 8:00pm-10:00pm (both with a break).

If you’re interested in joining either ensemble, please contact Ed at edward.walters@durham.ac.uk.
