Durham Dynamics is Durham University’s largest mixed a cappella choir, made up of up to 20 – 25 talented and impassioned performers. We sing a diverse range of repertoire from upbeat pop tunes to golden oldies, all within a relaxed atmosphere. Joining this group provides an invaluable opportunity for singers to do what they love with like-minded people at a consistently high standard, forming long-lasting friendships, whilst always working on new and exciting projects.

Our performances have ranged from busking in market square and outreach projects in care homes to formal concerts in various venues around Durham, including the cathedral. We also perform at college balls and in the past have been on a summer tour. In our most recent concert in Castle Great Hall, some highlights include a Stevie Wonder medley, Gwen Stefani’s ‘Sweet Escape’ and a stunning arrangement of Elvis Presley’s ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’.

Auditions for Durham Dynamics happens in two parts – individual auditions followed by call backs.  Both are quite informal, and the exec will be sure to put you at ease! All you need to do is sign up for an audition slot, turn up to your assigned slot and sing something you are comfortable with.  For the second round, you will be sorted into a group of four singers, one from each voice part, and taught a short segment of arrangement, so we can hear how you sing in a group context. Check out our Facebook page for audition information, we cannot wait to meet you!
