Gaude, Gaude, Gaude! Marian music from the golden age of English polyphony

  • This event has passed.

21 November 2016 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Durham Cathedral, Chapter House

Palace Green, Durham. DH1 3RL

The Dunelm Consort presents a programme of music in honour of the Virgin Mary from the English Renaissance, a time of great political and religious upheaval; a time which also produced some of the most remarkable and stunning pieces of music ever written.

As well as famous and much-loved works by William Byrd and Robert Parsons, there is the opportunity to hear rarely-performed works from the Eton Choirbook, and two large-scale works by John Sheppard and Thomas Tallis.

Directed by Jonathan Allsopp.
