Electronic Music Workshop
29/10/2018 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The Birmingham Ensemble for Electroacoustic Research will be visiting Durham University to run an open afternoon workshop on computer music and to hold a free evening concert. All interested undergraduates, postgraduates, and staff are welcome to attend this workshop in the Music Department Technology Lab.
This workshop for composers and artists explores the possibilities of using scientific data as a resource for music and sonic art, with particular focus on sonifying data from the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, the world’s largest particle accelerator. An introduction to the physics involved will be followed by an exploration of strategies for converting the data into sound. Previous experience of computer music environments is useful, but not required.
This workshop will be followed by a free concert at 7pm in the Music Department Concert Room.
