Masterclass: Daniel Cook
31 January 2018 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Daniel Cook (Master of the Choristers at Durham Cathedral) will be giving a free masterclass to the Durham University Chapel Choirs, their directors and organ scholars. The university chapel choirs will join together to form a massed choir and the student directors will take turns to lead the singing and learn skills in choral directing from Daniel. Here both conductors and singers will learn from one of the best choral directors in the UK. Following this Daniel will work with some of the university Organ Scholars. Following this there may be the opportunity for musicians to observe the cathedral choir rehearse for evensong, conducted by Daniel to see what they have learnt be put into action.
Singers from all university chapel choirs are welcome to sing in the masterclass and all other musicians are welcome to observe. The masterclass is free of charge.

In addition he is Artistic Director of Mousai, Curator of JAM on the Marsh, and maintains a busy schedule of recitals, concerts, and recordings, both as performer and producer, as well as being in demand as a conductor, teacher and singer. Prior to his position at Durham Cathedral, Daniel spent four years as Sub-Organist of Westminster Abbey where he was the principal organist to the Abbey Choir and Assistant Director of Music to James O’Donnell.
