Masterclass: Flute

Internationally renowned and multi-award winning flautist Gareth McLearnon will be visiting Durham to give a masterclass to flautists; both the university Flute Choir and individual performers.

There are slots available from 1.30-5pm so if you are a flautist and would like a chance to work with one of the best, please contact the Masterclass Manager on ashleigh.k.charlton@durham.ac.uk. Music Durham members are warmly invited to observe the masterclass if they do not wish to take part. The event is free of charge to both performers and observers.

Gareth studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and was awarded a principal flute position in Southbank Sinfonia in 2005. Gareth has taught at Yale University, Boston Flute Academy, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing,  and The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He has been principal flute of The Heritage Orchestra since 2009.
