Music Durham Soloists Competition
- This event has passed.
12 March 2017 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Now in its second year, the Music Durham Soloist Competition has expanded to include a Chamber Music round. As part of the Soloist Competition Final, the winners of the chamber competition – the DUOS Horn Quartet – will perform a short set and be awarded their prize. The four soloist finalists will perform around 10 minutes of contrasting music, accompanied by John Reddel. The finalists this year are Rowena Ashby (voice), Misuzo Oda (piano), Holly Greenwood-Rogers (Horn), and Emer Acton (Voice). The performers will be judged by Peter Hewitt, who will give each finalist remarks on their performance and choose our winner. Peter is the Chief Executive Director at the Benslow Music Trust as well as a senior examiner for ABRSM, and was Director of the Junior Royal College of Music. He is also a Durham alumni, and Music Durham are delighted to welcome him back to adjudicate this competition. A relaxed reception of wine and nibbles will be held after the performances while Peter makes his decision.
This evening of high quality performance is not to be missed! Tickets are free but please reserve online as numbers are limited.
