Musicon Concert Series 2020/2021: Still here
December 2 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
This year’s Musicon season is quite different from what we’re used to. Given the circumstances, we will not be hosting concerts with a live audience for the time being, but have planned a series of really exciting online events, which will be released on our web page one term at a time. As well as the concerts, there will be guided conversations on Zoom after each event, where the performers will talk about the programme and ask any questions posted by the audience. You can keep updated with our concert calendar by checking in with us on our website (www.durham.ac.uk/musicon) and our Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Still here, an online event at 19.30 on Wednesday 2 December with Sophie Appleton (violin), James Weeks (piano)
You can watch the concert for free through the Durham Music Department YouTube Channel, which can be found at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD3k0NqmtN-DhmZN0fBd2YQ
The concert will be followed by a Zoom chat with the composer.
James Weeks (*1978)
still here (2020) World Premiere
still here: being still, being here; still being here. James Weeks’ new 45-minute piece for violin and piano, written during lockdown for his wife Sophie Appleton and himself, explores both presence and the continuity of presence: gathering the threads of time passing and past into a calm rootedness of being.
