Internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble EXAUDI returns to MUSICON with a scintillating programme of Italian madrigals. At the heart of the programme is an encounter between three of the madrigal’s greatest masters, Marenzio, Monteverdi and Gesualdo, exploring both lighter and darker sides of their musical personalities. Alongside this are two contemporary responses to the madrigal tradition, Salvatore Sciarrino’s breathtaking settings of Matsuo Bashō and a new commission from Eric Egan.
A pre-concert talk with composer Eric Egan and EXAUDI director James Weeks will take place in the Music Department Lecture Room at 18.00.
Presented in Collaboration with Durham Vocal Festival and supported by the Radcliffe Trust
