National Youth Choirs of Great Britain – Talk and Q&A
May 5 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
National Youth Choirs of Great Britain inspires and empowers young people throughout the UK with the life-changing experience of singing together. Founded in 1983, NYCGB comprises five choirs of over 850 young people aged 9-27 – who join together for intensive rehearsal experiences, musicianship training and high-profile performances – and two training programmes for emerging professional artists: NYCGB Fellowship and Young Composers Scheme.
This talk and Q&A will be led by NYCGB Learning & Engagement Manager Katie Lodge and Durham alumnus and 2018-19 NYCGB Fellow George Cook. We’d like to highlight some of the opportunities available through National Youth Choirs of Great Britain, from auditioning for the National Youth Choir Annual Programme to joining one of our Emerging Professional Artist Programmes (Fellowship or Young Composers Scheme). We’ll also be situating NYCGB within the landscape of Music Education in the UK today and discussing some of our partnership projects with Music Education Hubs.
NYCGB will be holding two Online Open Events on 7 & 8 May for anyone interested in auditioning for National Youth Choir; for more details see www.nycgb.org.uk.
This talk is relevant for anyone interested in further singing or composition opportunities, and those interested more generally in music education and career pathways.
