Orchestral Society: Symphony Orchestra

The season continues with Durham University Orchestral Society as the Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Alex Mackinder, give their first performance of the academic year. The evening will commence with the electric Dance Bacchanale from Camille Saint-Saëns’ Samson and Delilah, followed by the composer’s illustrious 1st Cello Concerto, in which cello co-principal Jessica Bryden takes the stage. The programme will conclude with one of the most monumental and well-loved symphonies of the 19th century – Symphony No.5 by the Russian giant Pytor Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
