We’re now in the last couple of weeks of our Art Prize Art School and want to share the final events we have coming up and the fantastic resources available on our website. All the events below are FREE to attend, and will be streamed via zoom.
Thursday 4 Feb, Angels and Victims, 6-7pm
Rachel Barclay talks representation of women on life saving medals in Victorian Britain.
Saturday 6 Feb, Social Practice Surgery (Times vary)
social art specialists Dan Russell & Lady Kitt are running a group discussion around art practice. This is for any artists or budding artists who would like advice on applying for art prizes or pushing their own practice.
Monday Feb, Who is your Hero?, 6.30- 8pm
Family friendly workshop with artist Ann Diment, constructing your own super hero through storytelling and drawing.
Wednesday 10 Feb, Exploring British History, 6-7pm
Join artist Sofia Barton as she investigates some of Britain’s minority suffragettes and talks about the artworks she has created inspired by their stories. Followed by an artist Q&A and informal discussion.
You will also find FREE resources and videos including MEDUSA’s talk and resource pack encouraging you to create your own Unlikely Hero Iconography, Turner Prize winning artist Jeremy Deller on the subject of Heroism, recorded talks by Dr Craig Barclay on the extraordinary life of Muriel Thompson and Eleanor Matthew’s on Surreal Hero Collage and much much more….
