Durham University Hill Orchestra is one of the main and most inclusive orchestras at Durham University.  We are a non-auditioned ensemble and all orchestral players of any level and experience are welcome!  As an orchestra we like to perform a wide variety of music to a high standard from film and TV scores, such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Game of Thrones, to classical greats, such as Sibelius’ Finlandia and Dvorak’s New World Symphony.

We have at least one concert every term in some incredible venues across Durham and rehearse every Saturday afternoon (with fewer rehearsals during the exam season).  There are also plenty of chances to get involved in the orchestra outside of rehearsals and concerts with regular socials and outreach opportunities, having previously had fundraisers for DASH, Coppafeel and Student Minds.

With a history of passionate and inspiring conductors, a huge variety of both fun and challenging concert repertoire and ability to tour, DUHO offers the perfect way of keeping orchestral playing enjoyable, rewarding and accessible to everyone!
