Music Durham is pleased to announce the appointment of Lydia Heald to the position of Music Development Officer.

This one year position is the closest point of contact between student music societies, individual musicians across the University and colleges, and the university.

Lydia, who studied Modern Languages, will take up the position later in the summer.

Jessica Lawrence, Head of Student Music, commented, ‘We’re really looking forward to Lydia joining the team, and building upon Abi Groocock’s  great work in supporting music across the University’.

Lydia is looking forward to the opportunities offered in this role, and is particularly excited about continuing and developing Music Durham’s outreach programme, and strengthening links with the local community.

Lydia says, ‘I have so many treasured memories after having played with both DUPO and Concert Band during my four years here.

‘I can’t wait to take on the role of Music Development Officer and ensure that everyone has access to the same fantastic musical opportunities that have made my time at Durham unforgettable.

‘Above all, I relish the opportunity to support current and future societies within Music Durham, helping them to become the best they can possibly be.’
