The European Lute Orchestra
The European Lute Orchestra was founded in 2012 with the support of the Italian and British Lute Societies. It is a large musical ensemble formed of about 40 musicians from many countries including Italy, France, Germany, Argentina, Spain, Portugal, UK, Poland, Slovenia, and Venezuela.

Concert of exciting classical repertoire played to a high musical standard by the Durham University Classical Ensemble. We are delighted to announce our Epiphany term concert. 'A Movie Night In' will take place in the Castle Great Hall at 8:30pm on Monday 14th March. With the soundtracks to your favourite films, from Star Wars to Jurassic Park and Pirates of the Caribbean, it will be a Hollywood style evening to remember. We will also be debuting scores composed by Durham Alumni, Hester James and Megan Cunnington.

DUPO Chamber Orchestra's Concert this term showcases a collection of Romantic repertoire, which focuses on celebrating unrepresented composers. The first half is Robert Schumann's Symphony No. 2, a passionate masterpiece. This is followed by the second half of the concert, which features women composers. This half will open with Emilie Mayer's dramatic and haunting Faust Overture, followed by a breathtaking finale: the stunning and varied Callirhoe Suite d'Orchestra by Cecille Chaminade.
